We stripped the builder beds, set 4-inch black steel edging, laid 5/8-inch Tejas gravel over barrier and planted agave, sago and yucca for structure with almost no upkeep. A downspout drain was tied in while the beds were open, and the lawn was repaired around the new floating walkway. Once the deck was poured we installed the irrigation, ran 2-inch Tejas gravel beds along the fence with young magnolias for future screening, replaced the sod, and finished the side-yard gate approach with step stones in gravel — a low-maintenance frame for the pool that will not blow leaves into the water.
