We favour 16×24 in concrete pavers (Britt Brown is a favourite with McKinney's brick and stone), large-format concrete steppers set in Tejas gravel, and natural flagstone with decomposed-granite or pebble joints. ## Popular projects - **Side-yard walkways** — pavers or steppers on a gravel base, edged in steel, with drainage rock so the path never puddles. - **Front entry paths** — floating concrete slabs or pavers through a lawn or gravel bed. - **Patios and grilling pads** — compacted base, paver or flagstone surface, sand or granite joints. - **Steps and tree rings** — paver steps, stone tree rings and planter surrounds. ## Why the base matters North Texas clay swells and shrinks with the weather. Every path we build sits on compacted base and edge restraint, so the surface stays flat instead of heaving. That is also why we quote in person — we need to see the soil and the slope. ## Questions about pavers & patios Pavers or poured concrete? Pavers can be lifted and reset if the ground moves and look better next to a house with stone or brick. Poured or stamped concrete is cheaper per square foot for large areas. We do both and will tell you which fits. Do you build large patios or outdoor kitchens? We build patios, paths, pads and steps.
