Stone Bed Borders, Raised Beds & Small Retaining Walls in McKinney, TX

Grey Charlestown chop stone, Oklahoma stone and block — low walls and borders that give a front yard structure and stop beds spilling onto the lawn.

Grey chop-stone bed border filled with Tejas gravel

Stone borders are the step up from steel edging: a raised, mortared or dry-stacked edge that holds soil, frames a bed and matches the stone on the house. We build single-course borders, two- and three-course raised beds, tree rings and small retaining walls for changes in grade.

Typical projects

  • Front foundation beds edged in grey chop stone with Tejas gravel and minimal planting
  • Raised planter boxes and vegetable beds encased in stone or gravel
  • Stone tree rings with fresh planting
  • Low walls to terrace a sloped side yard or hold a gravel path

For taller retaining walls with engineering requirements we will tell you up front and point you to the right specialist.

Questions about stone borders & walls

Mortared or dry-stacked?

Single-course borders are often dry-set on a compacted base; anything holding real soil pressure is mortared or built on a footing. We will recommend based on the height and the soil.
